Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic riding enables many disabled people to participate in an enjoyable activity, and experience physical benefits such as improved balance and coordination, greater strength and muscle control, and increased range of motion. Try to find a program that is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. (see NARHA link below). Most centers are non-profit, and you can help their rapidly-growing programs by donating your time, money, horses, tack, etc. Donations are welcome, and are usually tax deductible. Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Programs offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to improving the mental health of individuals, families, and groups.
